The Archivist is a free browser idle game available at thearchivistgame.net. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit and play the game, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Your game progress — including knowledge count, upgrades, descent level, and achievements — is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

The Archivist uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate atmospheric lore fragments during gameplay. When a lore event triggers, a request is sent to a Cloudflare Worker proxy which forwards it to the Anthropic API. This request contains only gameplay context — milestone reached, upgrades owned, and game mode — and no personal information.
The Archivist itself does not set cookies. Third-party services (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) may set cookies in your browser for the purposes described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, please contact us.
Since The Archivist does not collect personal data directly, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete on our end. Your game save data is stored entirely in your own browser and can be deleted at any time using the "Reset all progress" option in the game.
